Olympik Restaurant and Bakery is planning to move at the end of the month from its home of 27 years. The new space is in West Ashley’s Indigo Village Shopping Center, about a mile closer to downtown.

An ending lease gave owner Ali Naderi the opportunity to reconsider the Greek restaurant and bakery’s future. Those that have visited the restaurant know that it was fairly worn in, and Naderi said the age of the building was definitely a factor, but he had no intention of leaving West Ashley, where he has found a loyal base of patrons.

The new 900-square-foot location will provide the same amount of seating, yet with more room for the cooks in the back. Olympik serves Mediterranean classics like gyros, kebabs, and Moussaka. Prices are reasonable, with plates ranging from $7 to $14. Vegetarians will be happy with 10 different meatless options, and Naderi has even put together several gluten-free items, including a gluten-free version of his almond marzipan cookies. The menu will remain the same for now, though Naderi says he’ll add a few new surprises. He’s also considering expanding the bakery into another space in the shopping center for a larger operation.

While the restaurant will be closed for a couple days for the move, the dates have not been announced yet. Until then, Olympik Restaurant and Bakery is still open at its original location 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday. Olympik offers delivery services through Quick Foxes at (843) 277-9271 and catering or specialty cakes are available as well.
