No matter where you live, some Christmastime traditions remain the same. Sure, you might have gone to the beach on the first weekend in December or substituted your frasier fir with a sabal palmetto, but you’ve got your holiday rituals. The Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is putting a new twist on an old holiday favorite that it hopes will payoff for some of the area’s favorite local businesses.

Last week, the CVB rolled out, a new website that features a virtual Advent calendar with a new deal from Charleston businesses each day of December until Christmas Day. A Lee Bros. boiled peanut kit, a kid-sized joggling board from Wonder Works, and discount tickets to holiday shows at Charleston Stage have been unveiled so far, with 22 days of local shopping left.

In addition to deals at local retailers, Christmas In Charleston also features a calendar of holiday events and specialty packages from area hotels and restaurants ranging from less than $100 for a night at Shem Creek Inn to a $1,560 New Years Eve stay at the Wentworth Mansion (six-course dinner at Circa 1886 and commemorative champagne glasses included, of course.) You’ll also find holiday recipes and links to uniquely-Charleston gifts and attractions.

Be sure to keep an eye on the Advent calendar, because the shelf life on many of the deals isn’t quite as long as your aunt’s holiday fruitcake.
