The Hamlet Gallery, which represents several local landscape painters and sculptors, announced recently that it will merge with COCO VIVO, another fine art gallery just a few doors down Broad Street. “We’re merging as partners,” says owner Stephanie Hamlet. “I’ll be working with [COCO VIVO’s] Mary Phelps, but I’m going to focus more on my painting, and come downtown just one day a week.”

Hamlet lives 50 miles away in Berkeley County, so she’s looking forward to cutting down on that commute and having more time to spend on her artwork and teaching mixed media classes. “It’s just time,” she says. “I’m getting ready to enjoy my life, and focus on myself and my art.”

Hamlet’s current artists will officially be represented by COCO VIVO.
