So the Mayans (or at least the people who thought they predicted the end of the world) were wrong. Yay for us! We get to welcome in yet another year. There’s not tons to do this week, but that’s ok because there’s so much happening tonight for New Year’s Eve.
Monday. Say goodbye to 2012! Freeloaders can head to Marion Square for Happy New Year Charleston, an alcohol-free family celebration sponsored by the city. There isn’t a huge selection of free NYE events, but you can sift through everything NYE here, or see our list of faves here. You can also take part in the kickoff of the Jubilee Project, which is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation all year.
Tuesday. Head to the beach for the Polar Bear Plunge on Folly or Sullivan’s. Or start off the new year with a guided hike at Hampton Plantation.
Wednesday. Tonight is apparently game night — you can play bingo at the Tin Roof, or trivia at Kickin’ Chicken or Sticky Fingers.
Thursday. Get your groove on at Black Tap Coffee’s weekly MundoVibe listening event.
Friday. Check out the art galleries at First Fridays on Broad, and stop by the Michael Parks Gallery to see new works by Austin Grace Smith.
Saturday. How about some free-to-look events? It’s Vinyl Saturday at Monster Music and Movies, and Pet Helpers is hosting their monthly adopt-a-thon at Yuppie Puppy in Mt. Pleasant.
Sunday. Yeah, we got nothin’ today. Time for a bike ride or movie marathon.
