Can we just say that it’s about time? Just about everyone in Charleston loves Shovels and Rope (a.k.a. Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent, a.k.a. 2012 City Paper Music Award winners of Country Band of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year, a.k.a. No. 3 on American Songwriter‘s best album of 2012 list, a.k.a. the subjects of a January New York Times profile, a.k.a. we could keep going with the accolades but you probably already know them).

And now that they’re going to be on the Wed. Jan. 30 episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, we’re pretty sure the entire world will love ’em too.

Earlier today, the group posted on Facebook:

The Universe strives for balance. For example, we get confirmed for The Late Show with David Letterman… And Cary Ann gets jury duty. Hope the magistrate is understanding. Tune in January 30th!

We’re not sure, but we can only hope that being on national television is a good excuse for getting out of jury duty.

The duo’s episode airs next Wednesday on CBS at 11:35 p.m. Stay tuned to the Late Show‘s website to see who else will be on the show with Cary Ann and Michael.

UPDATE: Tonight on the Late Show, S & R will follow Michael Bluth and Trudy Campbell… tune in at 11:30pm ET to get your fix.
