Asheville-based funksters The Get Right Band is returning to Charleston following the release of their first full-length album, Shake. The Get Right Band are no strangers to Charleston, having developed quite a fan base here after opening up for Dumpstaphunk and the Victor Wooten Band, among other acts since their formation in April 2011. Even if you aren’t familiar with their music, you shouldn’t be too surprised by what the band has to offer. As drummer Chris Pyle, who happens to be the son of Lynard Skynard’s Artemis Pyle, says in their press release, “When you come to our shows, come to get right — with yourself, with your life, with the people you love.” It’s no shocker then that they’ve chosen Charleston, a city swarmed with young folks echoing this mindset, as one of the first places to promote Shake. The string of Holy City shows will occur at several different venue around town, including the Pour House on March 12, Awendaw Green on March 13, Surf Bar on March 14, and Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ on March 15 (West Ashley) and 16 (Sullivan’s).
