- PeopleMatter’s 466 King St. HQ in December
Downtown drivers beware, Upper King NKOTB PeopleMatter will be shutting down the street between Mary and Ann Streets this evening for its grand opening celebration.
The event coincides with the inaugural Dig South Interactive Festival, which kicks off tomorrow and is hosting PeopleMatter CEO as its keynote speaker Saturday morning. It is invitation-only and will feature speeches from DaPore, Mayor Joe Riley, Charleston Digital Corridor Director Ernest Andrade as well as tours of the swanky new four-story office, which features a rooftop deck, according to the Post and Courier.
In the City Paper cover story this week, DaPore reflected excitedly on the Holy City’s prospects to become a technology hub, “This is [Charleston’s] time. This is its calling to rise up to the occasion and fill the need, and I really think this is the window that we’ve got to seize the moment.”
It’s been a year and a half since PeopleMatter announced it would revamp the long-vacant building at 466 King St. and eventually take over the space currently occupied by Charleston Beer Works, but over the last couple months, the web-based HR technology services company has been gradually moving into its new digs downtown from their Navy Yard offices.
The road closure will run from 4:30-9:30.
