Charleston has a reputation for being a foodie’s heaven, but little did we know the Lowcountry has also gotten publicity recently for having a lively underground restaurant scene. Because of this, one of Charleston’s exclusive supper clubs, L.I.M.E., will be featured in a new Canadian television series called The Illegal Eater, produced by the Travel + Escape channel. It will be filmed on Fri. April 19.
Former Barenaked Ladies lead singer Steven Page will host the show, and he’ll take viewers on the road in search of trendy, innovative underground dining and pop-up restaurants. Renata Dos Santos, local personal chef and artisan baker, founded L.I.M.E. (Local Impromptu Moveable Evenings) to showcase unique venues, talented chefs, and the flexibility and ease of preparing gourmet meals that are both local and seasonal. Each dinner is held at a different, top-secret location. For each event, they partner with a non-profit. For the upcoming dinner featured by Travel + Escape, L.I.M.E. will be raising money for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
According to the Illegal Eater Facebook page, Page will be visiting a number of local restaurants as well. Keep your eye out for him.
