So this morning, as you were going through your first emails, Mark Sanford was debating a nearly-life-size cutout of Nancy Pelosi on the sidewalk in front of MUSC. Acting as a stand-in, Sanford says, for his Democratic opponent Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the former governor peppered posterboard Pelosi with questions ranging from unions, to the stimulus, to the federal budget.
Sanford said he was left debating poster-Pelosi because he says Colbert Busch has declined to debate him face-to-face. The two have their first debate scheduled for Monday, April 29 at an event hosted by Patch, WCBD, and SC Radio Network at The Citadel and another set for the following day in Goose Creek sponsored by the local NAACP organization.
Now, since this is the internet, Mark soon became a meme as S.C. politicos quickly posted reworked versions of Sanford taking on a few, more or less, formidable opponents.
