On May 8-9, the Coastal Conservation League will host an an impressive slate of locally and nationally prominent speakers for its 25th anniversary conference at the Francis Marion Hotel. “The next 25 years will be even more critical for the Lowcountry,” the group says.
Over the two-day conference, attendees will hear from a variety of panelists, including activists, lawmakers, and academics to brainstorm the best way to “play a positive role in sustaining the global environment.” The single-track program will feature group discussions ranging in topic from food supply chain to climate change, to government and civics. Notable speakers include former 4th DIstrict Congressman Bob Inglis, United Republic CEO and Free Press founder Josh Silver, former Seattle Mayor Gary Nickels, and environmental lawyer and advocate Gus Speth.
CCL tells us they’re planning for a packed house, but registration information is available at CCLfuture.org, and tickets are going for $100 a day or $160 for both days. The group says it hopes the conference will set the stage for the next 25 years, continuing to be a catalyst for change, so that “residents of our region can choose a course that protects and enhances our natural ecosystems and human communities.”
