Sea turtle nesting season is right around the corner, which makes this a great time — not that there’s ever a bad one — to think about how you can help protect them. A group of local girls is giving you an easy way to help with this weekend’s Sea Turtle Festival.

The action starts at 5 p.m. with food, educational games, crafts, and jump slides, and at dusk guests can watch the free movie Turtle: An Incredible Journey outside. Though the event is free, a $5 donation is suggested. All the money raised will be donated to the S.C. Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Rescue Program, and the young organizers have set a fundraising goal of $2,000. If you can’t make the festival and still want to make a donation, you can do so online.

Check out the details on the Facebook event page, and thanks to our sales manager Cris Temples for letting us know about it.
