Noise rock band Modern Man will be playing their final Holy City show July 20 at the Royal American. On August 1, the group — which recently moved to Charleston from the Upstate — will head out west to the Bay Area.

Modern Man is lead songwriter David Allen Glenn on vocals and guitar, Brian Draper on guitar, Jose Davila on bass, and Nikki Calvert on drums. “In the beginning, it was just me, so naturally I composed everything,” Glenn says. “There are a few songs on Walk Away and Eyes No that we wrote as a band, and now I am composing full songs less these days.”

Glenn adds, “I’d rather show up with an idea and build on that. It’s much more organic that way.”

Modern Man recently released a single, “She Wears Pants,” a lathe cut by Rah Rah Records in Charleston. This fall, Glenn and company plan to release two more EPs and videos.

For their final Holy City show, Modern Man will play a few songs that have never been heard outside of their practice space. Halmos and Matte Black will also be on the bill.
