- “Southern Girls” will gather at the Saloon tonight
According to an ad on Craigslist, MTV is scouting potential cast mates for a new reality show entitled Southern Girls. The casting call is taking place at Market Street Saloon, and girls are encouraged to “dress to impress.” Also a plus in the casting directors’ eyes? The ability to dance and bar tend. Hmm. Is this a Coyote Ugly for the South type show?
Well, the MTV description doesn’t give much away, but it could definitely go in that direction. According to a May 2013 Deadline.com blog post, “South Of Heaven (working title) is a new half-hour docu-series following the lives of a group of fun loving girlfriends at the best little honky tonk bar in Texas who are working to make their dreams a reality.” Now, the Market Street Saloon locale makes more sense. And despite the “South of Heaven” name, sorry, metalheads, it’s almost assuredly not a Slayer enthusiast show.
Emails to the address provided were answered by a representative from Charleston Hospitality Group, which owns Market Street Saloon. Emails to MTV were not answered at time of publication.
