Coliseum Drive to become Darius Rucker Boulevard

So long, Coliseum Drive. On August 12, the road that encircles the North Charleston Coliseum will trade its bland, if descriptive, name for a brand new one, Darius Rucker Boulevard.

The name change was spearheaded by local radio station WEZL when the station’s DJs discussed the idea on the air. North Charleston mayor Keith Summey heard the broadcast, and joined with the station to make the name change happen.

The name change ceremony will be broadcast live on Aug. 12 during the 8 o’clock hour of the WEZL morning show.
