According to a spokesman for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers made nine arrests for driving under the influence charges at a James Island checkpoint Saturday night.

In addition to the nine DUIs, officers issued 32 citations and 12 written warnings.

Major Jim Brady, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, says Charleston police, Folly Beach police, S.C. Highway Patrolmen, and the sheriff’s H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Unit conducted the checkpoint on Folly Road near Sol Legare Road from Saturday at 11 p.m. through Sunday at 4 a.m.
