  • Calling all Chivers

As a citizen of the internet and a loyal consumer of the Charleston City Paper, chances are high that you’ve sunk a few minutes (hours? days?) on TheChive.com, the hard-to-define network of photo sites with an insanely rabid fan base and an unhealthy obsession with Bill Murray (“BFM” for the unindoctrinated). Not that we would know anything about that.

In addition to The Chive’s worldwide reach on the web, Chivers from far and wide have recently started making a point to get together IRL, and have raised thousands of dollars for charity through meetups and other random acts of kindness (RAKs… you’ll get it.)

Well, on August 17, Chive On Charleston, the faction for the Holy City Chivers, is teaming up with The Alley for an unofficial meetup, sponsored by The City Paper and we’re sending all proceeds to a good cause. From 7 p.m.—2 a.m. on the 17th, we’ll have DJ Natty Heavy manning the booth, silent disco presented by Inkahootz, free bowling all night with strike contests, prize giveaways (including a pair of tickets to our 2014 Best of Charleston party), and tons of food and drink specials so you can KCCO all night long. ($2 PBR, Old Mil, Natural Light; $3 Natty Bo; $3 Fireball; $4 Rumple; $1 Chive On Jello shooters while they last.)

Tickets are on sale now for $15 with 100% of all proceeds going to Charleston County Rescue Squad.
