Charleston’s has its own charitable show company, and now BANGS shoes is teaming up with local artists to double the donations at Art with a BANGS. Local artists, including Greg Hart, Patch Whisky, Kristy Bishop, and Johnny Pundt along with designer JLinSnider, taxidermist Becca Barnet, and SpaceCraft Studios’ Allison Merrick will design their own BANGS to be auctioned off on Sat. Oct. 12 from 4-9 p.m. at Redux Contemporary Art Center.

All the bids start at $60 (the cost of the shoes) and to ensure that the usual BANGS donations will still take place, but any additional proceeds will benefit P.I.C.K, a charity that works with newborn jaundice. Elizabeth Bowers, one half of the artistic duo Gris Galerie and co-organizer of the event, has a personal connection to the cause: Her nephew suffered kernicterus, or brain damage from newborn jaundice.

The artists will also be selling one piece of original art at the show — get there earlier to scoop up your favorite artist’s, once it’s gone, it’s gone.

And if you’re feeling the creative juices, BANGS will be on site with markers, paint, and hopefully some bedazzling tools to make your own one-of-a-kind design. DJs R Dot and Natty Heavy will spin some jams to help you shop, create, or just browse, while Holy City Brewery, King of Pops, Roti Rolls, Auto Banh, and Cannonborough Beverage Co. ail, be there to provide some brews and food to keep your energy up.
