[image-1]Reading about wine can be a study in futility. Can you really imagine what a wine with a strawberry aroma smells like? Probably not, unless you’re reading Richard Betts’ wine book: the Scratch and Sniff Guide to Becoming a Wine Expert.
The illustrated book (which I can’t wait to get my hands on) has 16 scratch-and-sniff scents to help you understand, for instance, the flavors and smells that red fruits give to different wines.
Betts, an outsize wine personality, will be in town next week for a wine party and book signing at Butcher & Bee. We’ll be chatting with him tomorrow to get more on his book and his story, which includes making wines, decoding wine speak, and generally being an ambassador for the desnobification of wine. In the meantime, head over here to get your tickets for the party.
