Booze and bands go hand in hand, and the Palmetto Brewery Company is making it a little easier to have both in one place. For the past few weeks now, their ongoing Loading Dock series has hosted bands and food trucks at the downtown brewery’s old loading dock from 5-8 p.m.

“You can’t just get rid of a loading dock, so after we built a new one, we started using the old dock and the courtyard for bands,” says Palmetto’s Chris Winn. “We wanted to create a cool spot downtown for bands to play and trucks to be featured.”

Awendaw Green has been booking local bands and artists to fit the Brewery’s tastes, and so far it’s been successful. Bands have routinely played before crowds of 100-plus

The 21-and-up-only concert series is free, and the next one is scheduled for Fri. Dec. 6 with music by local Delta blues act, Honeysmoke. And of course, Palmetto will be selling beer on-site.

“By the end of January we’ll be having bands every Friday,” Winn says. “About three weeks ago we had our first cold snap, but it’s awesome how people don’t mind and keep showing up.”
