Schools will be closed Thursday in the Berkeley County, Charleston County, and Dorchester 2 school districts due to inclement weather from Winter Storm Pax.
In Charleston County School District, school-based staff are not to report to work on Thursday, but central office staff at Bridgeview and 75 Calhoun St. are being asked to report to work at noon Thursday. However, due to reports of the Ravenel Bridge closure and heavy traffic, district officials announced Thursday morning that central staff are not required to report to work at noon.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following traffic warnings:
“There are reports of down tree branches on roads in the following areas of Charleston County: Ravenel, Hollywood, Adams Run, Ladson, and Lincolnville. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is asking motorists to use extreme caution when traveling on County Line Road, Hwy. 165, Hwy. 162, Hwy. 174, Toogoodoo Road, Hyde Park Road, Hwy. US 17 North and South, SC 45, SC 78, Lincolnville Road, and Von Oshen Road.”
As of 4:45 p.m., S.C. Electric & Gas is reporting that more than 93,000 customers are without power. This number is down from around noon, when the figure was close to 100,000.
