If you’ve plunked down a nice chunk of change for one of the Wine+Food Festival’s Perfectly Paired Dinners on Friday or Saturday night, the thought might strike you as you reach the end of the meal whether you should leave a tip for your servers or not.

“Typically,” one restaurant manager told me, “it is built in [to the ticket price].”

But, he added, “a little extra is always appreciated because it normally doesn’t equate to a normal shift.” That’s because for most of the dinners the restaurant is not open for regular customers that night and the one seating for the dinner are the only tables the servers get.

So, look deep into your heart, and maybe get a couple of twenties out of the ATM as you head downtown. Your server will certainly be appreciative.
