For young artists, graduating from college can mark the beginning of a difficult, quiet period. Many are left without a creative home, as they can no longer show their work in school exhibitions and private galleries generally want developed, rather than developing, artists.
To help bridge the gap between being a student and becoming a professional, local artists Lucius Nelson and Tommy Fox have organized Dat Art Tho’, a one-night show of works by 12 current and recent College of Charleston art students.
Many of the artists have exhibited in the Halsey Institute for Contemporary Art’s annual Young Contemporaries show, an annual juried show featuring works by CofC art students.
The mediums range from photography to 3-D, and the event will also includea a hip hop performance, live music, and a video piece. Art will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to support CofC’s Visual Art Club. The show takes place March 15 from 7:30-11 p.m. at King Dusko, 541 King St.
