Here’s an interesting new development in the world of FIG, the Best of Charleston winner for Best Restaurant and a James Beard nominee for Outstanding Wine Program. General manager and beverage director David McCarus has left the restaurant for new opportunities.

Chef/co-owner Mike Lata says the decision to part company was made this week, but beyond that he wasn’t saying much. Inquiring minds will just be left to ponder the inevitable ‘why now’ question. Lata says FIG will remain dedicated to doing what it does best and will rely on the professional team they have in place to carry on.

McCarus, a City Paper contributor, could not be reached for comment.
