Sources tell us (and by sources we mean City Paper writers and imbibers) that Folly has a new bar. According to CP contributor Stratton Lawrence, Jack of Cups Saloon opened in the old Brew Pub (34 Center St.) the day of the St. Patty’s Day pub crawl on March 15. The tiny space is owned by Lesley Carroll and Nick Della Penna (bartenders of Tin Roof fame). Lawrence reports the duo have successfully kept the location’s reputation alive as the craft beer headquarters of Folly, and are also rolling out some pretty fantastic events. On May 5, in honor of Cinco de Mayo, the tiny bar is hosting Bill y Joel, i.e. Bill Carson and Joel Hamilton covering Billy Joel. Yeah that sounds like a pretty fantastic way to celebrate the Mexican army’s defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla. I mean isn’t that what Joel’s 1983 hit “Keeping the Faith” was based on? Pretty sure. The party starts at 7 p.m.
