Today only, community groups across the Lowcountry are hoping to focus their loyal supporters’ financial backing on Lowcountry Giving Day, hoping to grab a piece of more than $1.5 million in matching donations committed by Coastal Community Foundation partners.
For weeks, groups have been telling their supporters to hold off on writing that check until May 6, when the Coastal Community Foundation’s Lowcountry Giving Day offers an opportunity for eligible dollars to be matched by a group of generous donors who have thrown their money in the pot to be distributed between a wide array of more than 90 groups participating from College of Charleston to Lowcountry AIDS Services.
The event coincides with CCF’s 40th anniversary this year and is run in connection with Give Local America, a national 24-hour fundraising campaign run independently by local groups across the country.
As of 11:30 a.m., a live count of Lowcountry Giving Day activity reports more than 2,475 individual donors who have given nearly $1.25 million for local non-profits.
To participate, visit LowcountryGivingDay.org and check out the leaderboard of groups currently raising money. Giving Day ends at midnight, so make those donations now in order to maximize your impact to your favorite community group.
