Grace Joyner, the latest talent from Charleston indie label Hearts & Plugs, will release her debut EP Young Fools on May 13. Though she’s no stranger to the stage — she regularly sang harmonies with Elim Bolt and Brave Baby — this is Joyner’s first time in the spotlight. She began composing songs during a rough breakup before joining up with engineer/producer Wolfgang Zimmerman of Brave Baby. “We took the recording process very slowly,” she tells us. “I would just call Wolfgang up anytime I had a new idea, and we would set up a day or two to work on it and record it.” Joyner’s official release show is set for Sat. May 17 at Royal American (with Gold Light and Scott Dence performing, too). You can listen to her first single “Be Good” at soundcloud.com/heartsandplugs or right here.
