Spend hours boring your friends with the minutia of craft beer? Why not take that knowledge and get your brewski B.A.? On Nov. 7 Palmetto Brewing will host the cicerone exam. The four-hour test is open to anyone and costs $350.
Chris Winn, Palmetto’s head of sales, marketing, and media says the brewery decided to offer the test due to a growing local interest in beer. “I think this reflects more of the progression in the local beer industry than the broader customer base … although there are certainly some folks out there as beer enthusiasts that would like to get certified,” Winn says. “The certification is really a good benchmark as more and more folks are selling beer. The end user needs to know who they can trust for good info.”
And to get the inside scoop on that info, Winn says Palmetto will host study sessions in advance of the test. To sign up for the exam or study sessions, email Winn at chris@palmettobrewery.com.
