Following a slightly askew set in Charlotte that included a truncated show due to a bomb threat and an injured lead singer, Washington-base indie outfit The Head and the Heart performed to a cozy crowd Thursday night at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.
In support of their most recent album, Let’s Be Still, the roughly 2-hour set included tracks like “Shake” and “Lost in My Mind.” The perfectly beautiful “Winter Song” left us wishing the song was just a touch longer. Vocalists Josiah Johnson and Jonathan Russell melted voices in perfect harmony as themes of love, friends, and family joined in the form of “Rivers and Roads”. After a short encore break violinist Charity Rose Thielen and Russell emerged for a poignant “Ever Since.” The evening ended with the new favorite “Let’s Be Still” and the hit “Down in the Valley”.
