Charleston lost an important member of the music community yesterday when the co-founder of Kinetic HiFi and TheFix.fm Brad Cooper was killed in a car wreck on Kiawah Island. According to reports, the accident occurred at 2 a.m., and 22-year-old Cooper died at the scene.
A young entrepreneur who lived and breathed music, Cooper’s absence will be sorely felt throughout the local scene. He recently helped launch TheFix.fm in order to support area musicians and bring good music to the ears of local listeners. This was Cooper’s passion, and anyone who crossed his path was inspired by his optimism, humor, energy, drive, and kindness. He was always bright eyed and full of vision. We at the City Paper are all deeply saddened by this loss, and we offer our condolences to all of Cooper’s family and friends.
UPDATE: A memorial service is being held Monday July 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McAllister-Smith funeral home at 347 Folly Road. A celebration of Brad’s life will follow the ceremony at 1120 West Oceanview Road, Charleston, 29412.
