Fowler’s Mustache guitarist and songwriter Nick Collins has not only recovered after his car accident , he’s releasing a new solo album this summer. Not surprisingly, Collins used his struggle — he lost a leg and was hospitalized for months  — to create music. “I wrote about half of these songs before my accident and the other half since,” Collins says of the disc he recorded at Charleston Sound. “It has a lot to do with being grateful and really noticing the smaller things in life: Keeping happy in times of duress. I found that music has been one of the greatest healers mentally for me as I go through this long and drawn-out recovery.” With six songs tracked and only four more to cut, Charleston Sound engineer Jeff Hodges says a late-summer release looks promising.
