Man the cannons, the union is dissolved. Chef Shane Whiddon is no longer at Union Provisions (513 King St.). We learned from Charleston Eater today that Whiddon, who opened the restaurant on July 16, has parted ways with the King Street bistro. In a statement from the restaurant’s PR firm they report:
“Union Provisions and Chef Shane Whiddon have parted ways. We wish Chef Whiddon much success in his future endeavors. He’s a very talented chef and we have no doubt he has a bright future ahead of him. Sous Chef Chari Skinner is stepping up to fill the role.
We have a great team in place at Union Provisions and expect the transition to be as smooth as possible, so much so that guests will not notice a change. We will continue to embrace our original concept of American Brasserie cuisine in a shared plates format, and look forward to rolling out several new Fall dishes in the coming weeks.”
We reached out to chef Whiddon to find out more. He told CP, “I have no ‘official or on the record’ comments at this time.”
