Charleston hip-hop artist Salis has announced he’ll personally distribute autographed copies of his Sept. 8 release Cadillac Summer to his local fanbase.
Beginning on Labor Day, the rapper will use his Facebook fan page to announce distribution spots in both his hometown of Goose Creek, as well as downtown Charleston. Salis says the marketing tactic will not only allow him to get to know his fans, but it’s also a nod to the ’90s rappers who sold cassettes and CDs from the trunks of their cars.
The artist’s March release Cadillac Chronicles was written inside his Cadillac, and fans will have the chance to have their photo taken with Salis in front of the inspirational auto with a $5 purchase of the new EP. Salis is inspired by what he calls “riding music,” from artists like Outkast and the Underground Kings. He’ll perform next at the 2014 Geechee One Awards show on Nov. 8 at the Burke Middle High School auditorium.
