[image-1]Chicken Salad Chick has announced it will open its new Summerville franchise Tues. Nov. 11 at 214 Azalea Blvd, Suite G.
Now, you may recall, last fall the all-chicken all-the-time operation was attempting to lay their eggs in the former Andolini’s Pizza at 82 Wentworth St. The devastation over the loss of the landmark pizza palace — our own included — was immense. (Sophomore year at CofC, our upstairs neighbors all worked at Ando’s. The smell of day old pepperoni will forever be tied to memories of biology test panic and Jägerbomb hangovers. Oh, youth.)
But I digress. In July The Post and Courier reported that Chicken Salad Chick had decided to fly the coop and take their 15 varieties of chicken salad up the road to Summerville instead, abandoning 82 Wentworth.
“We had some unexpected changes come up with our location on Wentworth Street,” was all Chicken Salad Chick (CSC) director of marketing Ali Rauch said to Hanna Raskin in her report.
As for their new digs, CSC franchisees Julie Beville and Michelle Singleton of SingBev Hospitality, LLC, are apparently thrilled with their new Flowertown location.
“We are so happy to be bringing such a classy, Southern concept to an area that truly embodies Southern charm,” say Beville and Singleton in a press release today. “We have no doubt that chicken salad lovers in the Charleston area will fall in love with this extraordinary product!”
As for the old Andolini’s, according to our last walk-by, it remains empty. But like the heartburn singe of a post-pizza binge, our eternal flame of love for the once great Wentworth Street pie emporium will burn on.
