If you haven’t heard, the saga of Congressman Mark Sanford’s extra-marital escapades in South Carolina and abroad have recently been written into an off-Broadway play featuring a number of other notorious scandalizing politicians.
In Tail! Spin!, which the New York Times called “mordantly funny,” a crew of actors portray the head-shaking antics made public by frenzied media outlets and the politicians themselves, all men, over the course of their all-too-publicized “swan dives from grace.” Among them is former SNL cast member Rachel Dratch, who does triple-duty playing former S.C. first lady Jenny Sanford as she’s interviewed by Barbara Walters, with interludes from Marìa Belen Chapur. Sanford himself is played by Tom Galantich.
Also featured in “Tail! Spin!”, which runs through November at the Lynn Redgrave Theater in New York, are former Reps. Anthony Weiner, Mark Foley, and former U.S. Sen. Larry Craig.
