Up-and-coming chefs may leave Charleston, but that doesn’t mean we don’t keep tracking their progress. That’s true with former McCrady’s star and Chef de Cuisine Jeremiah Langhorne. He headed north over a year ago with business partner Alex Zink in tow. The plan was for the two McCrady’s alums to start their own restaurant, and now their new venture finally has a name: The Dabney.
On Wed. Oct. 15, The Washington Post’s Going Out Guide published its second installment in a series tracking Langhorne and revealing the name. In the post, we learn that Zink and Langhorne found their home for the Dabney in a historic neighborhood called Blagden Alley. Construction has begun and the new restaurant boasts, among other things, a huge hearth. “Yet no matter where diners sit, Langhorne wants them to have a view of the open kitchen, where their food will be prepared in one of several temperature zones built from burning embers in the hearth,” Tim Carman writes in the post.
The the 2,800-square-foot space will feature a bar, dining room, and private dining area along with a large courtyard. No word on the menu yet, but we suspect WaPo is saving that information for installment No. 3.
