One-time Charlestonian Rachel Kate recently got invited to record a few ditties for the music site, Daytrotter. โ€œIโ€™m not really sure how it all happened,โ€ she says. โ€œSean from Daytrotter tweeted at me about doing a session and we set it up. He tweeted, and then I tweeted, and we tweeted a bunch.โ€ Based in Rock Island, Ill., Daytrotter is the home of Horseshack recording studio, and itโ€™s known for hosting sessions with up-and-coming artists in a raw kind of way. Calling it The Great Hell of the Great Open Road and the People Who Travel It, Rachel Kateโ€™s session comprises four acoustic tracks, including โ€œThanks Cherylโ€ from last yearโ€™s Rachel Kate with Love and Hate.
