You selected your costume, decided which parties to attend, and know what horror movies you’re going to watch. What about sweets? C’mon, you know you’re too old for trick-or-treating. Don’t fret. Start your morning off with some doughnuts fit for the damned. Glazed is offering four Halloween specials (ranging in price from $2.25-$2.50), including an eyeball doughnut with cheesecake filling, a spider web doughnut with spiced chocolate custard, a pumpkin glazed doughnut, and a vanilla bean glazed doughnut with toy teeth.
For a spooky spin on the traditional turtle, stop by Market Street Sweets for a spider made with a bed of chopped pecans, homemade caramel, hand-drizzled chocolate, and pretzel arachnid limbs. $17.95 will get you a pound of these creepy crawlers.
If you want to sink your fangs into something a bit fancier, Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Patissier has a sinister selection of Halloween-shaped chocolates, including a $36.95 chocolate shell in the shape of pumpkin that will hold around seven or eight truffles of your choice.
Sugar Bakeshop has a villainous variety of cookies and cupcakes to satisfy your Halloween craving. Sugar cookies shaped like spider webs, black cats, and pumpkins are $2 each. Pumpkin ginger cupcakes with a cream cheese or vanilla icing are $4, and the apple spice pumpkins with caramel icing are $3.
For more Halloween-themed cookies, try the trick-or-treat bites at WildFlour Pastry. For just $1.60 per cookie, you can fill an entire plastic pumpkin pail (or pillowcase) with sugar cookies full of bits and pieces of your favorite Halloween candies: Snickers, Reese’s, M&Ms, etc.
For a sweet that is chilling in more ways than one, stop by King of Pops for any or all of their six petrifying popsicles: a candy corn pop made with vanilla; chocolate sea salt and Thai tea flavors; a cookies ‘n’ scream pop made with chocolate sea salt and chocolate chip cookies; an apple spider pop made with spiced apple cider; a Reese’s pop; and a caramel apple pop. A pack of Halloween pops contains two of each flavor and will cost you $25.
And if mom and dad need a little something post-trick-or-treating, Cocktail Club has you covered. They’re serving up a $5 creepy drink Halloween night. The D.O.A. is a play on the classic Corpse Reviver, made with vodka, Lillet Blanc, grapefruit juice, arugula syrup, and topped with concord grape juice.
