During his Oct. 30 episode Stephen Colbert announced that his long-time satirical news show will come to an end on Dec. 18.

Colbert is stepping down from the Comedy Central show to take over CBS’s The Late Show from David Letterman. Letterman’s last show has not been announced yet, but the plan is for Colbert to take the reins sometime in 2015, according to Entertainment Weekly
In typical Colbert fashion, the former Charlestonian did it with humor, plugging the release of the paperback version of his book America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t. He asked viewers to pick up the book from independent bookstores and mentioned his feud with online retailer Amazon.com, but then acquiesced and just asked you to buy it.
