Earlier this year, Fowler’s Mustache guitarist and songwriter Nick Collins recorded a solo record Dancing in the Rain at Charleston Sound. This weekend, he’ll perform his new songs at the Windjammer (1008 Ocean Boulevard, Isle of Palms) during a toy drive for MUSC Children’s Hospital.

Dancing in the Rain draws from Collins’ own experiences from before and after a car accident that hospitalized him for months and caused him to lose a leg. For Collins, music is the best medicine. “It helps me escape, relax, and meditate really,” he says. “It kept my mind from anywhere but where I was, and I needed that a lot over the past few years.”

The free family event is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features a silent auction, toy drive, live music, and plenty of island-style holiday cheer.
