We’re a week out from the start of Lent and that last gasp of gluttony — Fat Tuesday. Whether you’re a practicing Catholic following liturgical tradition or just love the idea of possibly choking on a plastic baby Jesus buried inside a cinnamon loaf, here’s where you can find a King Cake in Charleston:

Brown’s Court Bakery

This St. Philip Street spot is taking orders for its two varieties of King Cake: cinnamon and chocolate. Orders may be placed through Fat Tuesday and each cake is $16.
Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit
A fluffy twist on the traditional Danish loaf, Callie’s is offering special orders of six frosting-topped biscuits in traditional Krewe colors of purple, green, and gold. Each box is $12. Order by calling 737-5159.

Saffron Bakery

If you’re looking for the traditional King Cake minus the chocking hazard, Saffron is selling a 12-inch, baby-free version for $16.

WildFlour Pastry

WildFlour does have King Cakes with babies and it’s not too late to place an order. Call 327-2621.

Glazed Doughnuts
glazedgourmet.com
If bread just isn’t gonna cut it and you want to really up your dough levels, Glazed has King Cake doughnuts available until Fat Tuesday. They’ve even guaranteed “at least one baby per dozen doughnuts.” Call in advance, or grab a box to-go Fat Tuesday morning.
