It’s a big week for Park Circle residents. First we got word yesterday that Basil owner Henry Eang is opening a Vietnamese restaurant there, and now we can report that East Montague Avenue is getting a Yo Bo Cantina Fresca.ย

Yo Bo owner/operator Katharine Gottfried tells us via email, “It is true! We did buy Cork. Hoping to open in the next two to three weeks.” The new burrito outpost will replace the former Cork Neighborhood Bistro atย 1067 E. Montague Ave.

This makes the third branch for Yo Bo Cantina Fresca with their other locations atย 10 Windermere Blvd. and in Athens, Ga., which opened over the summer.

“We are very excited about opening in Park Circle,” says Gottfried. “We had looked at a location across from EVO in 2009 that didn’t work out. When we came across Cork, we jumped at the opportunity. There is a great sense of camaraderie and a positive attitude in the area. It has sort of a frontier feel, and we think it is a great community for a Yo Bo Cantina.”

For Yo Bo faithful (like those of us who remember dining at theย original location on the corner of St. Philip and Wentworth streets), Gottfried assures the Park Circle menu will stay the same โ€” Green Kahuna burritos and Mexican Greyhound cocktails included.

And they’re hiring. According to a City Paper classified ad, Yo Bo Cantina Fresca Park Circle is looking for experienced prep and line cooks. Those interested can email yobocantinafresca@gmail.com.ย
