Girls Rock Charleston will hold this year’s camp July 13-17 at Septima P. Clark Academy on James Island.
Empowering girls and transgender youth through music education, DIY media, and creative collaboration, GRC is a week-long camp complete with workshops on everything from feminism and social justice to the arts and media.
Campers can also learn guitar, drums, bass, or keys; form a band; write and rehearse songs; and perform live at the GRC Showcase Sat. July 18. The venue for this year’s showcase is yet-to-be determined.
Voluntary instrument instructors, workshop leaders, counselors, roadies, and food team members are needed, and high schoolers are also encouraged to apply to be junior counselors.
No music experience is necessary for campers or counselors, and applications for both positions will be accepted until May 22 at girlsrockcharleston.org.
