Three-piece local bluesy rock ‘n’ roll band Bizness Suit have been on the live circuit for the past year and now have the chance to record their album Grey Sky Blues with a Grammy Award-winning team in Los Angeles.
Once there, they’ll work with Martin Guigui, who has produced artists like Jason Mraz, Heart, and Daryl Hall.
A film crew also awaits the band in California, where they’ll shoot a documentary about the group as they record and meet up with several L.A. record labels.
To help fund the album, Bizness Suit has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $17,482 by May 4.
As for what the new album sounds like, frontman Sean Barry says it’s a mix of The Arctic Monkeys and The Doors.
“We have a high appreciation for classic rock catered towards a modern audience,” he says. “We want it to be catchy without being pop, so there’s also a dark, rock feel to our songs as well.”
Bizness Suit will play at the Marsh Music Festival Sun. May 24 at The Barrel (1859 Folly Rd.) with Pluff Mud Queen, Best Laid Plan, and Marsh & the Mellows.
Originally, the Marsh Music Festival was scheduled for last Sunday, but Charleston’s sudden monsoon-like weather had other plans and the fest was pushed ’til May.
