If you haven’t made it to Lake City for the third annual Artfields yet, you’ve still got a few days — the town-wide celebration of community and fine arts runs through Sun. May 2.
The idea behind Artfields is to take over the town with art and events, so installation artists are commissioned to create pieces in both public and private spaces, local businesses display artworks, artists and artisans present talks and demonstrations, and guests are invited to vote for their favorite work of art. We’ve already browsed the online gallery and spotted several Charleston artists we know and love: painter and muralist David Boatwright, painter Lese Corrigan, Townsend Davidson, and illustrator Kristen Solecki are just a few.
At the end of the festival, artists can win in both the people’s choice and judges’ categories — and
there’s $100,000 in prizes up for grabs.
