DIY has always been popular, but since the advent of websites like Etsy and Pinterest, Do It Yourself has become a niche in the world of fashion and design. Charleston Grit’s motto is “Bold. Smart. Local. Now.” They are embracing those ideas with their DIY Wedding Contest, which has contestants submit all aspects of their personalized wedding days for the chance to win a “second honeymoon.”

The contestants will be judged on the DIY elements of their weddings, and nothing is off limits. Judges will be looking for the bold. Madison Miller from Charleston Grit assures us that “the whole wedding doesn’t have to be DIY.” We would love to see the superhumans who pull that off.

A panel of judges will choose 10 finalists for the readers of Charleston Grit to vote on. Those chosen will be selected based on creativity, budget friendliness, execution, and craftsmanship. The winning couple will receive a prize package valued at over $500 and a three day, two night stay at the Princess Anne in Asheville. When they get home, Ooh! Events will style a photo shoot for the couple at Cannon Green based on the DIY designs from their wedding.

Couples can submit pictures and answer questions starting May 20, 2015, and ending June 20, 2015 on Charleston Grit’s website. The contest is open to Charleston Tri-County residents and out-of-towners who had their wedding in the Tri-County area.
