Hogs for the Cause announced today its return to the Grove at Patriot’s Point on Sat. Oct. 3 with a jaw-dropping lineup that will include Dr. Dog, Lucero, Nikki Lane, Fly Golden Eagle, and the People’s Blues of Richmond.

The nation’s premiere fundraiser for children with pediatric brain cancer, Hogs for the Cause began in New Orleans in 2008 when Becker Hall and Rene Louapre decided to recreate good ol’ fashioned Southern pig roasts. Since then, the event has grown into a 20,000-person-plus event raising funds to help ease the financial burden families face when their child is being treated for brain cancer. So far, the organization has given over 200 grants directly to families in need and have partnered with hospitals all over the U.S., including MUSC Children’s Hospital.

This is Hogs for the Cause’s second annual Charleston event in which local pitmasters try their luck in a competition for the best barbecue in town.

Hogs Charleston is also looking for volunteers to work four-hour shifts in exchange for free admission. For more information or to buy tickets (they start at $20 and are tax-deductible), go to hogscharleston.org
