You can put those closing rumors to rest. Boone’s Bar is still up and runnin’ under new owners Sandra and Ahmed Hassan. The pair have been in charge of the downtown bar since June 5.

Hassan is no stranger to downtown bars — he recently sold Upper King St.’s Priya. He says that Boone’s has “more potential,” with its size and kitchen. He plans on keeping things as they are for now, but there will probably be some changes come football season. (No word on whether or he bleeds orange or red).

“We’re still here and we’re open for you guys,” says Ahmed. He says that he built a crowd at Priya and he wants to do the same thing with Boone’s clientele. Don’t worry regulars, he wants y’all coming back too. “We brought in new faces and new energy,” says Ahmed. “But we kept the backbone of Boone’s [staff].”

Former owner Bucky Parks put up an emotional Facebook post on June 6, thanking Boone’s regulars for their years of service.

A small reflection on my time with Boone’s Bar Today, I woke up and for the first time in almost five years…
