A 5-4 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court this morning likely clears the way for gay marriages across the United States, asserting same-sex couples’ constutitional right to marry. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion, and discussed the wish by many gay couples to get married: “Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions.
