A Post and Courier report shows that the City of North Charleston Police Department leads the state in what are called “police contact stops” in which cops pull over a driver, but let them go without a citation—a little less than half of all stops made by NCPD cops from 2010 to 2014. Most of the time reasons for the “pretext” stops include careless driving, seatbelt violations, or tail light operation, which was the reason given when Walter Scott was pulled over in April. Lindsey Graham’s service as an Air Force reservist is often cited as part of his political bio, but a Washington Post report over the weekend details that Graham’s ascent up the military ranks included less than 108 hours of training between 1995—2005 and held a “no-show job” as a “senior instructor” at a military JAG school in Alabama.
