The legislative push in states like South Carolina after deadly high-profile police-involved shootings earlier this year appears to be fizzling out, says the Wall Street Journal. In all, lawmakers in 42 states proposed bills this year as a result of incidents like Ferguson and North Charleston, but only 15 states, including S.C., enacted any legislation. Source: WSJ
The P&C examines correspondence between the state attorney general’s office and First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe, who was named as the special prosecutor on former House Speaker Bobby Harrell’s public corruption case, showing that the Wilson’s office shut down its investigation of Harrell in February 2014 over accusations that he was not impartial and playing politics. Pascoe told the P&C that other lawmakers named in the Harrell investigation “need to be look into for potential misconduct.” Source: P&C
